How naps were meant to be

Same day, outfit changes for both of us. Don’t ask.

Babies are complicated. You should never deny your infant when they’re hungry. But also you shouldn’t overfeed them, or you put them at risk of obesity. Sucking is a sign of hunger, but also a sign of boredom, fatigue, or a sign that your baby likes to suck. Crying is a late sign of hunger – don’t let it get to that! But crying is also a sign of boredom, fatigue, wanting to be held, or a sign that your baby is a baby.  So good luck with that!

Practicing for the sleep archery event at the next summer olympics

Today we went on a very long walk with the baby bjorn. We were out for almost 45 minutes (ten of those were the inevitable talking with neighbors). I might have overdone it a little bit, so we’ll take it easy the rest of the day. We got out a little after 8am and it was already getting hot, so we’ll have to try for even earlier as the summer progresses.

I’m testing out whether I can realistically create a blog post from my phone. This is more challenging than I’d hoped.

Today Emily slept solid from 2:30 to 6:30am! And she’s been awake much of the morning. I read her a Sherman Alexie short story from the latest New Yorker during her first breakfast. She seemed not to mind.

You guys. This. Baby. I don’t think I comprehended how cute she was at this point. I’m working on putting up back-dated posts now (she’s currently 14 weeks and So Much Bigger!) so I’m astounded at how tiny she was.
