In case you’re counting, Emily has now spent a total of 4 solid days trying to figure out how her hands work. Why do they move seemingly at random? How come I can’t pull my middle finger off? and Why, oh God Why can’t I consistently get my fist into my mouth, which is all I’ve ever really wanted in my entire brief life?
So now on day 5 of “Project Hands” she has begun to use the hands to feel and grab at Other Things. This seems to delight her, and will likely constitute a much larger project.
The adults have several projects in the works as well. One of them is called “Get Emily out of the House”. Progress has been slow. We go on walks in the carrier, which is great, but Mom has wild and crazy dreams of walking around downtown for like, 20 minutes maybe? Status of the project: Stroller has been acquired, but has wheels that need to be inflated. Neither of my two bike pumps fit. Argh, what? To be fair, once that obstacle is overcome, this stroller is going to be awesome, and able to handle (not super rocky) trails without jostling the baby too much. It should be a vast improvement over solid rubber tires.
The other slight hurdle to get over is that our car seat was … um … blessed by the cat with a holy water whose perfume has withstood several washings and disinfectings (have yet to try exorcism). Awaiting a shipment of extra-strength enzyme-based pet stank cleaner ….
So, we are determined! Everything in its own time.
